Slowear has released its first collaboration with performance sailing label North Sails. The collaboration was originally teased last June during the brand’s presentation during Milan Men’s Fashion Week.
The “Urban Breeze” capsule aims to create high-performance outerwear that does not sacrifice style and is aimed at today’s urban sailors as well as lovers of techwears.
“Slowear and North Sails are two brands that share a long heritage and a strong tradition. And at the same time, both have been able to constantly renew themselves, becoming a point of reference in the men’s wardrobes,” said Piero Braga, Slowear’s chief executive officer.
The range will include two styles, the Newport Sailor jacket and the Amalfi peacoat.
The Newport Sailor windbreaker is an updated version of the North Sails “Sailor” jacket, which features a three-layer, 100 percent recycled, ultra-lightweight, windproof and waterproof jacket with special heat-sealed stitching for the inner lining and the outer pockets, creating a 100 percent protective shell.
Rounding off the capsule is the Amalfi peacoat, made of cotton and nylon gabardine, embellished with a water-repellent finish.
The Newport Sailor windbreaker retails for $540 and the Amalfi peacoat is $900. Both styles are available for purchase now on Slowear.com and in the company’s network of stores.
North Sails, which has powered every America’s Cup winner since 1987, will once again be the sailmaker for all teams participating in the 37th America’s Cup, which will be held in Barcelona, Spain, in September and October. The world’s leading sailmaker will also provide all participating teams with 3D sail technology, aero engineers, and access to the “North Design Suite,” which is made up of advanced sail design and aero simulation tools.
