WWD hosted a conversation with stylist Gabriel M. Garmon, designer Brandon Murphy and curator Harold James Alexander Waight, who organized the June 4 march in Harlem in remembrance of George Floyd, which encouraged demonstrators to wear a suit and tie. Their demonstration drew some inspiration from the civil rights era in the ‘60s, where men and women dressed up and wore dresses and suits.
