Coach is no stranger to reinvention, and with the latest drop of Tabby Bag styles and colorways, the New York fashion label is continuing to master the art of evolution. Coach’s Tabby Bag is a prime example of how the beloved designer bag brand continues to tap into the trends of the moment with their unique twist, never compromising quality, attention to detail, and craftsmanship — and we’re always excited to see what’s next.
So, what’s new for the Coach Tabby Bag for spring 2024? It’s all about the quilted leather look for timeless style and versatility for everyday wear. Since the trend shift to ‘stealth wealth’ and ‘quiet luxury’, fashion-forward trendsetters have embraced quilted handbags with gusto. Browsing the top luxury handbags on the market right now and the influencers who tote them, it would appear we’re all taking cues from our stylish grandmothers and old-school style icons to make quality investments on tried-and-true bag silhouettes that will stand the test of time. Since its debut earlier this year, the quilted Tabby bag landed at the right place at the right time to become one of the most sought-after bags to carry this year — a stark contrast to logo-centric, in-your-face luxury that’s dominated the trend cycle in past years.
Both the Coach Tabby 20 and 26 bag sizes rolled out in 2024 feature elegant and edgy chain straps that make it easy to wear as both a shoulder and a designer crossbody bag with visually-appealing quilted exteriors in a variety of colorways, from vibrant bright hues that add some spring freshness to your everyday uniform, to classic black and ivory works-with-everything options for formal occasions and casual outings. While most new Coach Tabby bags this season feature camouflaging signature hardware that matches the color of the bag, some of the new classic in neutrals have gold or silver clasps for a touch of shine — but those are already selling out, so there’s not a moment to wait for securing one of the best Coach Tabby bags of the season.
The new Coach Tabby bag line-up this year also brought some exciting surprises that tap into the hottest fashion trends of the moment — and the street style crowd is going gaga for these trendy goods, as seen during New York Fashion Week this past February. Unlike the nappa leather versions that make up the majority of the quilted Tabby bag line, one of the styles that sold out in a blink of an eye was Coach’s Tabby bag in a quilted denim fabric. Denim is not only is a major bag trend seen in spring 2024 designer runway collections, but also aligns with viral TikTok trends for Y2K-aesthetic lovers and fashion folks navigating the western trend before Beyonce’s new country album drops.
As spring flowers begin to bloom and warm-weather wardrobes make their way out of storage, Coach’s pastel Tabby bags have risen to the top of our most-wanted luxury purse list. Designer runway spring 2024 collections around the globe showed pastel accessories in both monochromatic fashion for show-stopping style, as well elevated accents to neutral attire. So whether you want to embrace the spring season with a candy-colored ensemble to lighten your mood or need a one-and-done accessory to add some extra oomph to your wardrobe basics, you’ll crave these sherbet-dipped Coach Tabby bags in pastel yellow that pops against khaki-colored utility jackets, pale peach to pair with pretty pink day dresses, and even a cool gray-blue color that creates a nice balance to vivid neons and rich jewel-toned pieces in your closet.
But the new 2024 Coach Tabby bags don’t just stop with single-hued styles. We couldn’t keep our lips sealed when Coach’s printed Lipstick Tabby bag hit the brand’s website just in time for Valentine’s Day. The silver metal hardware and printed pattern of rouged lipstick marks look just as elegant as they do playful on chalk white leather — and shoppers agree, as the bag is almost completely out of stock!

The Best Coach Tabby Bags of 2024
History of Coach Tabby Bags
The iconic Tabby Shoulder Bag is inspired by a 1970s design originally conceived by famed designer Bonnie Cashin. Considered a wunderkind upon her introduction to American fashion during high school, Cashin was a major pioneer of American sportswear. She grew up around fashion and textiles as the daughter of a dressmaker, and began her career as a costume designer before working with sportswear designer Louis Adler.
In addition to owning her own business, Bonnie Cashin Designs, Cashin designed flight attendants’ uniforms for American Airlines and sold pieces at the Hermès Paris store before becoming the first designer at Coach Leatherware in 1962. During her tenure, Cashin introduced house signatures and heritage bag silhouettes, including the brass turnlock fasteners and toggles many Coach bags still carry today. According to The Met Museum, “Her Cashin Carry bags incorporated exterior coin purses, and could be layered similarly to her clothing.”
Re-worked in 2019 by Coach Creative Director Stuart Vevers, the initial Coach bag design to inspire the Tabby was multi-functional, as it was able to be worn as a shoulder or crossbody bag. Vevers’ Tabby Bag immediately rose to mainstream popularity after it hit the runway, and was seen on the arms of celebrities from Jennifer Lopez, Megan the Stallion, and Selena Gomez. The fall 2019 campaign that featured the Tabby bag, photographed by Juergen Teller in New York City, entitled “Dream It Real,” starred Michael B. Jordan and Kiko Mizuhara, along with Yara Shahidi. This season’s “Find Your Courage” campaign is equally as star-studded, featuring Lil Nas X, Camila Mendes, Kōki, and Wu JinYan and the latest Coach Tabby bags.
In 2021, the Pillow Tabby was introduced and enjoyed a meteoric rise in popularity, especially on TikTok, where it garnered 21.4 million video views for its plush and modern exterior. Coach rose to the top of the Lyst Index by 2023, reaffirming its dominance for “more accessibly priced handbags over the gifting season, which have increased in popularity among Gen Z shoppers”. There’s psychology behind the Pillow style’s popularity, too, with experts connecting our attraction towards the pillowy feel to the comfort found in soft materials that takes us back to our childhood love of plush toys.
Since its re-introduction, the Coach Tabby bag line continues to grow, expanding from shoulder bags to satchels, crossbody bags, and small leather goods alike. The wide variety of styles make the Tabby easy for anyone to incorporate into their wardrobes, as it spans in size from the small Tabby 20 (which can fit an iPhone 13 Plus or Pro Max) to a larger Tabby 26 (with a longer leather chain strap) with additional variations, like the satchel Soft Tabby, and slouchy Restored Tabby Hobo bag.
